Aggravated Assault Dismissed. Client was arrested on felony aggravated assault charges related to an altercation that occurred over a misunderstanding. Alleged victims falsified their stories. Alleged victims also threatened my client in the hallway at the courthouse. After hearing our side of the story, the state’s attorney investigated the facts and potential testimony of the victims, along with the part of the story that made this charge a felony instead of a misdemeanor. The state’s attorney had doubts about the truthfulness of the alleged victims stories and determined that, at best, what had occurred was a big, unfortunate misunderstanding. The state agreed to dismiss the charges. The charges were also expunged.
